Where is Basseterre located?
Wednesday, July 7th, 2010Basseterre port is located on the south western coast of Saint Kitts Island, and it is one of the chief commercial depots of the Leeward Islands. The city lies within the parish of Saint George Basseterre and the southern part of the parish of Saint Peter Basseterre. Basseterre is one of the oldest towns in the Eastern Caribbean.

The Clock Tower

This amazing Clock Tower is in the center of Basseterre.
The city has 2 main centers. The Circus, is geared towards tourism purposes. The Independence Square, which contains the cathedral, the courthouse and most of the older buildings.
The Berkeley Memorial stands in the center of The Circus in Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis. The memorial features a drinking fountain as well as a clock. There are four clock faces, each one facing one of the four streets leading to the Circus. It was built in honour of Thomas B.H. Berkeley, a former president of the General Legislative Council in the 1880s.
